LIVING THE BRAND
Empowered Employees
Empowered employee for Access Bank means encouraging a sense of ownership and belonging in the minds of employees. Empowerment is the process of giving employees in the organization the power, authority, responsibility, resources and freedom to take decisions and solve work related problems.
However, organizational empowerment can only go so far. Managerial and individual efforts have a lot to do in ensuring employees feel adequately empowered. As a manager, do you empower your team members? Do you promote a sense of belonging? Do you trust their abilities? Do you
give them the opportunity and encourage them to grow? If employees don’t see a fast-rising graph in their career path, they lose interest at work and productivity falls. It is important that as a manager, you empower deserving team members, this would not only improve turn around time in service delivery to customers, but it will make them more responsible and more invested.
On the individual level, the Bank has put in place structures to make you see that you are a major part of the big picture, it is your responsibility to show that you understand your role in helping the Bank and your team achieve set goals. It is time to constantly seek for and accept more responsibilities, share your
brilliant ideas, apply for that internal vacancy that you qualify for, request to be reassigned within your group so you can learn new things, champion projects that would improve customer satisfaction, make informed decisions and take ownership.
As an institution, the Bank is committed to empowering its employees, it is imperative that we also play our parts in order to yield high impact and positive long-term effects that would benefit the brand.
