FOOD FOR THOUGHT
How to choose a right business coach for yourself and your business
For most entrepreneurs and business owners, choosing a business coach for themselves or their business isn’t always as simple and clear cut as it may seem. They are so many variables to take into consideration, how do you know if someone is the right business coach for you? Why do some people get magnificent results from working with a particular coach, whereas some others feel disillusioned with their services? It all comes down to choosing the right coach for your business, your needs and your desires.
Step1. Self Assessment — Understand your why
Before starting anything, it is very essential to understand your why in your current situation. Once you know where you want to go, figure
out what's stopping you from getting there. Why do you need a business coach right now? Are you willing to be coached? What are your expectations? Etc.
This will help you understand your needs gap well and put you in the best position to take the next steps to choose a right business coach for yourself and your business.
Step 2. Speak with your Coach — Try to connect
Connect with the coach when you can without being a pest. Try to meet them at events, workshops and listen to and learn from their story. Where possible, connect with your coach one on one and always be transparent with your coach, never try to hide things, be yourself and genuine.
Step 3. Chemistry and mind-set connect — Long term investment Personalities don't always click. You may discover that a seemingly perfect business coach is difficult to work with, or doesn't fully understand your perspective. (For example, many female entrepreneurs prefer working with a business coach who is also a woman.) Your coach should be someone who earns your trust and confidence, not intimidates you into following his or her advice. A business coach is a long term investment and therefore the right business coach must click with you first, you must feel connected, and empowered by them.
