FEEDING
1.7 MILLION FAMILIES, 10 MILLION PEOPLE ACROSS 774
LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
Here's what we have
been up to:
Following our formation, we pledged to cater to providing food relief for underserved families and individuals once we had provided the government with requisite infrastructure to combat the COVID-19 scourge. We are delighted to inform you that we have launched the distribution programme, targeted at a whopping 1.7 million families, amounting to 10 million people across 774 local governments.
How arewe
executing this?
To ensure an even spread in the palliative disbursement, we divided the nation into the six geo-political zones with distribution flagged-o simultaneously in states such as Adamawa, Yobe, Ekiti, Ogun, Delta, Edo, Kano, Sokoto, Kaduna, Plateau, and Nasarawa.
The state government, through the State Implementation Committee, will organise for representatives of all the state local government areas (LGAs) to collect the allocations and oversee the redistribution to each ward and onto each eligible beneficiary at the grassroots. Subsequently, distribution will be done following an
agreed schedule.
EYE ON THE PRIZE
We are committed to transparency, hence, we have engaged KPMG to audit all activities of the Coalition independently. Following the completion of their audit, the results will be made public for all to access and peruse.
While the food distribution is ongoing across the nation, CACOVID would continue to intensify its grassroots awareness campaign, sensitizing communities on the work that remains to be done if we are to beat COVID-19.
Let’s stay alive together!
What items are being distributed?
Before the commencement of this exercise, CACOVID had procured 200-truckload full of food items spanning 10kg bags of rice, 5kg bags of garri, cartons of noodles, 3 to 5kg packs of sugar, 1kg bags of salt, pasta, maize, semo, and more.
Each household will be receiving relief items of about 20 to 25kg.
