Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina is the President, African Development Bank Group, and is widely lauded for his visionary leadership and passion for Africa’s transformation.
Formerly the Nigerian Agriculture Minister, Dr Adesina was first elected President of the African Development Bank Group on 28 May 2015. He was unanimously re-elected for a second five-year term on 27 August 2020. Dr Adesina graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Nigeria, in 1981. Dr Adesina holds a master’s degree (1985) and a PhD in Agricultural Economics (1988) from Purdue University, United States of America, where he won the Outstanding Ph.D. thesis award for that year. Dr Adesina won the prestigious Rockefeller Foundation Social Science Fellowship in 1988, which launched him into his international career.
A bold reformer, as Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria from 2011 to 2015 Dr Adesina turned the agriculture sector of Nigeria around within four years. Under his tenure, Nigeria ended 40 years of corruption in the fertilizer sector by developing and implementing an innovative electronic wallet system, which directly provides farmers with subsidized farm inputs at scale using their mobile phones. Within the first four years of its launch, this electronic wallet system reached 15 million farmers, dramatically transforming their lives.
With Dr Adesina at the helm, the African Development Bank Group achieved the highest capital increase since its establishment in 1964 when on 31 October 2019, shareholders from 80 member countries raised the general capital from $93 billion to a historic $208 billion. The African Development Bank Group responded boldly and swiftly to the Covid-19 pandemic. On 3 April 2020, the premier development finance institution launched a landmark $3 billion Covid-19 Social Bond followed by a Crisis Response Facility of $10 billion.
Dr Adesina has been recognized with numerous awards. On 19 October 2017, the President was conferred with the World Food Prize, also known as the “Nobel Prize for Agriculture”. On 29 February 2020, he was named African of the Year 2019 by one million readers of the African Leadership Magazine. On 14 December 2020, the Academy of Public Health, the flagship body of the West African Institute of Public Health, announced Dr Adesina as one of the winners of its 2020 Distinguished Fellowship Award for his successful efforts in helping Africa to curb the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
On 2 February 2022, the President was conferred an Honorary Doctorate by the Federal University of Technology in Nigeria in recognition of his global leadership in agriculture, food security, development finance, and good governance.
Valerie D. Whiteis a chief executive, economic development expert, and leading advocate with more than 30 years of experience across private, public, and non-profit sectors. Following her work in New York City government, Standard & Poor’s Rating Services tapped Valerie to help lead its municipal and public finances department. As managing director, Valerie led a team of approximately 50 analysts and established herself as the go-to thought leader in the international public finance housing sector, authoring nearly 60 commentary papers on market trends and issues relevant to the sector.
During COVID-19 virus outbreak, Valerie leveraged her network and time-tested economic development know-how to establish a Small Business Relief & Recovery Fund to support hundreds of minority-owned businesses across the five boroughs with grants, saving into more than 400 small businesses, on the brink of collapse.
Valerie holds both a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a law degree from Fordham University, and master’s degree and Certificate in Organization Development from The New School. She also serves on the advisory board for the Fordham Urban Law Center and is a director on the Fordham Law Alumni Association.
Valerie’s success at the Navy Yard led her next to Empire State Development (ESD), a state-wide organization that provides loans, grants, tax credits, real estate development, marketing, and other forms of assistance to promote economic opportunity.
As executive vice president at ESD, as well as executive director of the agency’s Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development, Valerie spearheaded business development and engagement strategies for MWBEs, while establishing and executing the strategic development of outreach, positioning, and marketing strategies for the division’s goals for MWBEs, developers, prime contractors, community partners, and other external stakeholders.
Delia Ndlovu has enjoyed a remarkable career with Deloitte. She was appointed a Director in Tax in June 2004 and has occupied numerous leadership roles over her tenure including:
In June 2008 she was appointed as Business Unit leader of Global Employer Services (GES) in the Tax & Legal Business. Also in June 2008, she earned the distinguished role of serving on the Young Partners Advisory Council where she played a role in advising the then Global DTTL CEO at the time on talent matters.
In June 2009, she was appointed to lead the Public Sector initiative for the South African Tax & Legal practice.
In 2010 she relocated to the UK where her cherished sponsor found her a role in the Deloitte UK GES team where she gained valuable experience providing solutions to multinationals managing large mobility programmes. She also provided services to numerous Executives of companies and Expatriates. Furthermore, she supported the UK firm’s Africa desk initiatives.
In January 2013, Delia returned home to South Africa to take up the role of head of the GES Advisory team and represented the Tax business on the Africa Operations Committee under the Africa COO’s leadership. In addition, Delia led the Africa Tax desk where, together with the firm’s multidisciplinary teams, she assisted many multinational companies expanding into Africa.
In June 2018, Delia was promoted to Africa Tax & Legal Managing Director. She has also represented Africa Tax & Legal on the Global Tax & Legal Executive. Since June 2018, the business has achieved the following :

In 2021, the International Tax Review announced that Deloitte Africa Tax & Legal is the Africa Tax Firm of the Year and; As part of the EMEA region, Deloitte Africa also won the Tax Technology Provider of the Year and the Tax Compliance and Reporting Firm of the Year. Further, eleven women including Delia have been recognised and listed in the Women in Tax Leaders Guide 2021 by the International Tax Review. Delia attributes a large part of her growth in the firm to the many mentors, coaches and sponsors in Deloitte Africa and the UK who encouraged and supported her to continue working for the firm whilst completing post graduate studies including Hdip Tax law (UJ) and MBA(Wits) on a part time basis. Furthermore, they encouraged her to seize the opportunities provided by the firm to participate in numerous Advanced leadership courses. This has inspired her to continue being passionate about paying it forward and mentoring many talented individuals both internally and externally.
Delia is energised by making a difference that matters to society through her involvement with NGOs including the Wings of Hope school, Orlando Children’s home which is in Soweto where she grew up, the Thuli Madonsela Social Justice Foundation and serving as a Commercial Member occasionally advising Judges at the Tax Court. She is also trained as a Lifeline lay counsellor and continues to support Lifeline in various capacities.
Dame Pauline Tallen is the Minister for Women Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. She was born on the 8th of January, 1959 in Plateau State, to the family of the Kattiems. After completing her elementary and secondary education, she gained admission to study Sociology at the University of Jos. She graduated in 1982. She started her political career in 1976 when she started working as the clerical officer at Shendam local government council, then later ministry of local government affairs.
In 1994, Pauline Tallen was a councillor in Plateau State. This was followed by an appointment as a commissioner in the state by the military government between 1994 and 1999.
In 1999, she got a federal appointment as the Minister of state for science and technology. This was during former President Olusegun Obasanjo's tenure.
In 2007, she became the deputy governor of Plateau State and the first woman to be a deputy governor in northern Nigeria. In 2011, she contested to be governor of Plateau State but lost.
In August 2019, she got appointed as the Minister for Women Affairs in the federal republic of Nigeria.
Pauline Tallen was married to John Tallen, and the marriage was blessed with 5 children. John Tallen died in 2017.
Rajesh Khullar is an Indian diplomat and Executive Director at the World Bank Group representing India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. Previously, he was Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Haryana. Khullar is a 1988 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer.
Khullar holds a Master of Public Administration degree from GRIPS, Tokyo, Japan and an Executive Development Program diploma from Harvard Kennedy School. He graduated from Panjab University with a Master of Science degree in Physics.
During his career as an IAS officer, Khullar has served in various capacities in both Government of India and Government of Haryana including Joint Secretary (Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance),[6][7] Home Secretary (Haryana), Municipal Commissioner (Gurgaon and Faridabad) and District Magistrate (Sonipat and Rohtak).
Dr.Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe, FCAHerbert .O.Wigwe was Deputy Managing Director at Access Bank from 2002 and became its Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer in 2014. Previously, he was an Executive Director in charge of Institutional Banking at Guaranty Trust Bank and before then, a Management Consultant for Coopers & Lybrand before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.
Dr. Wigwe also served as the Chairman of Access Bank (Ghana), Access Investment & Securities Limited, Central Securities and Clearing System (CSCS) and is the current Chairman of Access Bank (UK) Limited and Unified Payments Services Limited. He is a Board Member of Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company and a member of the advisory Board for Friends Africa.
Dr. Wigwe graduated from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and received a B SC. Degree in Accountancy; a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University College of North Wales (now Bangor); a Master of Science degree in Financial Economics from the University of London and is an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School Executive Management Programme. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a Fellow of the Institute of Credit Administration, and an Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
Richard Mofe-Damijo Richard Mofe-Damijo is a spirited leader, with nearly 30 years’ experience in Executive Management in private business and government. He is a trained lawyer with inside knowledge of the workings of not just Nollywood but the African Entertainment Industry as a whole. He is recognized as a pioneer Nollywood practitioner with an in-depth knowledge of the industry as an Actor, Producer, Consultant, and Investor.
He is a multiple (Local and International) award winning actor and Movie-Producer reputed for problem-solving and result-oriented approach to work. RMD is an accomplished entertainment expert/consultant, with an in-depth ability to work with leaders from business and government.
Stephanie Busari is a journalist and editor at CNN Worldwide. She heads up CNN's Nigeria bureau where she pioneered CNN's first digital and multiplatform bureau.
She also reports on-air for CNN International and oversaw the network's Nigerian 2019 election coverage.
Stephanie oversees CNN Africa's digital's editorial and operational strategy and is passionate about crafting a new narrative for African storytelling and telling stories about Africa's changemakers and innovators.
In April 2016 she exclusively obtained the 'proof of life' video that showed that the missing Chibok schoolgirls were still alive. This video helped to kickstart negotiations with Boko Haram and secured the release of more than 100 of the kidnapped schoolgirls.
She was also an instrumental member of the CNN team that won a Peabody Award in May 2015 for the network's coverage of the missing Nigerian schoolgirls.
Stephanie won a Hollywood Gracie Award in 2017 for her persistence in covering this story and is also a previous recipient of the Outstanding Woman in the Media Awards.
In 2017, she was named one of the Most Influential People of African descent in a UN-backed award and in May 2020, she was listed among 25 of the most powerful female journalists in Africa by Women in Journalism Africa. She was also selected as a Yale University 2020 World Fellow, a fellowship for rising global leaders.
Dotun Akande (ACAS) is the Founder and Director of Patrick Speech and Languages Centre, (Patricks) Ikeja, Lagos.

As a qualified Behaviour Analyst from the Florida Institute of Technology and an advanced Certified Autism Specialist (ACAS), Patricks qualified as the first Nigerian Autism Centre to be registered with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES). She also holds a diploma in School leadership from the Lagos Business School. Her achievements include but not limited to, successfully leading many children and adults with autism into their functional spaces, built a full vocational center for young adults, in collaboration with other specialists, set up a certification programme for therapists.
Her recognition includes, Cherie Blair Mentee, Vlisco Woman, Access Bank Plc “W Power of 100” and “WimBiz Inspire Me 2”, to mention a few. She enrolled in the John Maxwell Leadership Program to enable her continue the national advocacy for the differently able. She is happily married with 3 beautiful children
Folake Soetan is an accomplished commercial and business executive with over 23 years of relevant experience in Aviation, Oil & Gas, and Power sectors. She is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and the University of Lagos with proven track record in business transformation, management, leading cross-generational teams, and mentorship.
She began her career in the Aviation Sector before joining Sahara Group in 2009; and started SO Aviation in Nigeria prior to expanding the company to Ghana, as Vice-President, Downstream-West Africa. Her work at SO Aviation increased the company’s market share and improved its ranking from 7th to 3rd position.
Folake is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric Plc. – the largest electricity distribution company in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is a transformational leader and an astute advocate of leading with empathy. At Ikeja Electric, she is driving the company’s transformation and unprecedented performance by leveraging the diversity of her team, their talents and unique experiences to deliver business results. This has engendered outstanding awards, recognitions, and global certifications such as “Best Electricity Distribution Company” and “Most Gender Diverse Utility Company”, won during the Nigeria Power Sector Awards in 2022, along with the certification of Ikeja Electric’s systems and processes in line with ISO9001:2015 and OHSAS18001 standards, respectively. Likewise, Folake was among “Eko 100 Women” recognized by the Lagos State government in 2022 – an attestation of her contributions to the development of the larger society. Folake Akindele is a Nigerian fashion designer and creative director of Tiffany Amber.
Folake was born in Lagos, Nigeria in 1974. After her education in Switzerland and the United Kingdom, she earned a postgraduate degree in petroleum law and returned to Nigeria to pursue her fashion interests.
Her fashion brand, "Tiffany Amber" was launched in Lagos in 1998. The brand has four stand alone stores and boutiques in Lagos and Abuja.[4] She has staged several fashion shows in Africa, Europe and the United States. In 2008, she made history as the first African-based fashion designer to stage a show twice at the New York Fashion Week. She was the first recipient of the "Designer of the Year" award at the African fashion week in Johannesburg in 2009 and was also awarded "Fashion Brand of the Year" at the ARISE Magazine Fashion week in 2011. In 2013, she received an Enterprise Award at the 2013 Women, Inspiration and Enterprise (WIE) Symposium and made the Forbes Power women list. She unveiled her 'Nirvana' spring/summer collections at DOII Designs launch.
Bolaji Balogun is the Chief Executive Officer of Chapel Hill Denham and is one of the leading deal makers by volume and value of successfully completed transactions in Nigeria, over the last decade. Bolaji has twenty-seven years of experience in financial services and mobile telecommunications. He spent eleven years within FCMB Group, in investment banking and securities trading, leaving the business in January 2001. From April 1993 to January 2001, he was Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at CSL Stockbrokers (part of FCMB Group). Bolaji was also Executive Director at FCMB Capital Markets from January 1996, where he led advisory teams in major corporate and complex transactions.
Bolaji left FCMB Capital Markets in January 2001, to become a co-founder and Director of Econet Wireless Nigeria, now Airtel Nigeria, which was the first major private infrastructure project in Nigeria. He led the capital raising and license bid auction process for Econet Wireless Nigeria’s USD285million GSM license. He was pioneer Chief Business Development and Strategy Officer and in October 2001, was appointed Chief Marketing Officer. The US$1.67 billion sale of Econet Wireless to Celtel in 2005 remains Nigeria’s single largest successfully exited investment. Bolaji left mobile telecommunications and returned to investment banking, when he founded Chapel Hill in 2005.
Bolaji is Chairman of Lafarge Africa Plc and a Director of Trustfund Pensions Plc, one of Nigeria’s largest Pension Fund Managers. He was formerly Chairman of Nahco FTZ Limited, a former Director of Nahco Aviance Plc and NASD Plc. He was appointed to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Africa Advisory Board in September 2009 and was Chairman of the investment banking trade group, the Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria from September 2010 to July 2014. Bolaji is an Economics (Honours) graduate of the London School of Economics.
Yewande Kazeem is an awarding winning media advocacy and communications expert
focused on Development Projects such as Agriculture, Nutrition, Women, Youths and Community Development. Her passion for inquisitive questioning, creative visuals, storytelling and her vast experience in the agriculture sector gave her the ability to connect media to Agriculture which created Wandieville, a media advocacy and communications company, where Strong messaging, communication strategies, policy advocacy and clear effective campaigns are integral to the work they do.
Over the years, she has worked on several Agricultural and Nutrition projects focusing on market systems, policy formation, demand creation and behavior change to ensure the nutritional and economic wellbeing of underserved rural populations in Africa Yewande has worked on these projects in several African countries. She is also the founder of Nutrition Conversations Africa (NCAfrica) a partnership with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) aimed at illuminating African nutritional challenges and opportunities, transformative ideas and game-changing solutions through continuous conversations, call to action, advocacy support and engagement to curb malnutrition in Africa.
Yewande sits on several boards such as the Food & Agriculture Expert Review Committee Board for the World Bench Alliance (WBA), Advisory Committee of the Alliance for Modernizing African Agrifood Systems (AMAA), a global effort of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), the National Advisory Committee (NAC) of the Actionable Research to Support African MSMEs to Provide Safe and Nutritious Food in Nigeria by Michigan State University.
Kafayat Omolara Sannir is a military officer, fighter pilot, instructor pilot and physicist. She was born on 27 April 1996 and hails from Ibeju-Lekki Local Govt Area of Lagos State. In September 2017, Kafayat graduated from the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Physics and was commissioned as a pilot officer in the Nigerian Air Force.
Kafayat’s flying career in the Nigerian Air Force has been exemplary. In 2017, she completed her primary flying training, earning the prestigious award of ‘Best in Flying’ in her student pilot set. It is noteworthy that she achieved this feat before graduating from the Nigerian Defence Academy. Thereafter she underwent the undergraduate pilot training programme with the United States Air Force, where she obtained her pilot certificate making her the first female fighter pilot in Nigeria.
As a fighter pilot, Kafayat has participated in several combat missions in support of Nigeria’s national security objectives including missions against terrorists in the North East and bandits in the North West. Additionally, as part of efforts to produce the next generation of Nigerian Air Force pilots, Kafayat received training as an instructor pilot both in South Africa and Nigeria. Since earning her instructor pilot certification, Kafayat has been involved in the training of several pilots, both military and civil. Overall, she has flown over 1000 hours including several combat hours in support of the nation’s interests.
Outside of her commitment to combat and instructional duties, Kafayat has also sat as a panellist on several UNSCR on WPS and similar conventions championed by the AU. Additionally, she continues to maintain interests in other fields of endeavour such as nuclear science and aviation safety. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Nuclear Safety.
Mai Atafo is a founder and Chief creative Director of the renowned fashion brand, ATAFO. He attended Istituto Moda Burgo in Milan and trained at the then Savile Row Training Institute.
Upon returning from the United Kingdom in 2002, Mai Atafo worked in various positions in the marketing department at British American Tobacco Nigeria. In 2006 he left to join Guinness Nigeria where he sat as Senior Brand Manager as of his resignation in 2010.
Before leaving Guinness Nigeria, Atafo started the clothing label then called "Mai Atafo Inspired". He sat briefly as Fashion Editor for Genevieve Magazine.
In 2011, Mai Atafo Inspired launched a wedding line called "Weddings by Mai".
Mai Atafo was strategy Director for the advertising agency Firehouse Group and also a professional emcee hosting events like Miss Nigeria Pageant in 2010, Etisalat rebrand launch 2012, more recently Glitz style awards in Ghana and the Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards in Uganda. He was headed The Future Awards Central working committee for 5 years.
Mokutima (Moki) Ajileye is P&G Nigeria’s Managing Director and Country Manager. In this role, she leads our operations in and around Nigeria and is responsible for investment decisions in the region

She has consistently delivered revenue, profit, and market share growth while developing the capabilities and talents within the organization. She has an entrepreneurial mindset and is comfortable with ambiguity, which has enabled her to take on start-up roles and build the organization from the bottom up.
She is also deeply passionate about gender equality and creating more inclusive economies where both men and women can succeed. She is one of P&G’s first female Country Managers in Africa – a milestone showcasing her talent and demonstrating P&G’s commitment to gender equality.
Lanre Bamisebi is a highly experienced professional with over two decades years of expertise in Financial Management & Audit, Information Technology, Consultancy, Project Management, Talent Management & Development.
He has extensive Pan-African experience, having managed IT across 22 African countries in various sectors including consulting, telecoms, oil and gas, banking, and fintech.
Previously, Lanre was the Managing Director of Finserve Africa, the Fintech Arm of Equity Bank. He also served as the Group Director for IT & Operations at Equity Group Holding Limited (EGHL) in Kenya. Before joining EGHL in April 2019, he was the Group CIO for Diamond Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), and Project Manager for MTN.
Currently, Lanre serves as the Executive Director responsible for leading the digital strategic direction of Access Corporation across its operations in Nigeria, Sub-Saharan Africa, and the United Kingdom. He has received several awards for his leadership, including the African Banking CIO of the Year Award at the Africa Banker 4.0 Awards, Best Fintech MD Kenya 2022, and was named one of the Top 25 Men in East Africa Fintech in 2022.
Lanre is an active member of the Nigerian business community and a strong advocate for financial inclusion and youth. He is a pioneer member of TEEP (Tony Elumelu Foundation), an adaptor of the Nigerian IT Incubator, and a member of several other IT and personnel development voluntary services. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, cycling, and tending to his treasured bonsai plants.
