The new strain and staying protected
As we battle a new strain of Coronavirus in what has been dubbed the second wave, experts warn this new strain is more contagious with daily positive cases across the country rapidly increasing.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to protect yourself and others from infection by strictly following the COVID-19 guidelines below:
Make use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers frequently and make sure you frequently clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
Wear a mask whenever you are outdoors and always clean your hands before you put your mask on
Make sure it covers both your nose, mouth and chin and wash daily if it's a fabric mask, or dispose if it's a medical mask
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and immediately dispose of the used tissue. Where no tissue is available, cough or sneeze into your bent elbow, not your hands
When indoors, keep the room well ventilated by opening a window where possible
Avoid direct contact with individuals as much as possible. Practise physical distancing of (2m) to prevent the spread of the virus. The further away the better
Stay home and self-isolate even if you have minor symptoms such as cough, headache, mild fever. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention immediately.
Together, we will get through this.
