MY TOP 5 PICKS
Best Holiday
destinations...2021
2020 has been one heck of a rollercoaster. It's summer time aka 'long vacation' and one can't even make travel plans. No one is stepping an inch beyond the borders of this country. We can't even enjoy vacations vicariously through Instagram.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks 2020 should be cancelled and started afresh.
Well, 'should incase' aunty Rona decides to let us be next year, here are my top 5 holiday destinations. You can check them out after all of the 'hoolabaloo' of 2020.
Bhutan, South Asia
As well as its rich culture and history, the country has been awarded the number one spot because it is the only carbon-negative country in the world and set to be the first fully organic nation in 2020. Taking its surroundings into consideration, Bhutan also operates a tourist fee to curb any negative effects of tourism, charging around £195 per day for visitors. Any visit to Bhutan must be organised through an authorized travel agent in advance, so that in itself can be handy for tips. Highly recommended are the mountain hikes through the monastry-ladened hills, witnessing ancient Buddhist traditions and basking in the country's natural beauty all while enjoying what nature has to offer, unspoiled an oversaturation of tourism.
Salzburg, Austria
The Alpine City has been ranked the best city to visit in the world for 2020, largely due to the centenary of its famous annual festival that takes place from July-August. For this special occasion, there are dedicated exhibitions and events, from concerts and operas to readings. As the birthplace of Mozart and the backdrop for The Sound of Music, there are plenty of museums and buildings dedicated to the city's rich cultural history. Visit the Mozart museum, the composer's birthplace and take part in a bike tour retracing the steps of the hit musical.
Travelers recommend marveling at the medieval fortress on the hills and striding alongside the Salzach River.
Just imagine visiting the spot that was home to one of our fave musicals; well at least mine.
